Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, chairs the Board of Directors meeting of the General Authority for Supply Commodities.
A meeting of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) was held, chaired by Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Mostafa Ismail, Deputy Chairman of GASC ; Mr. Rami Abul-Naga, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank ; Counselor Ahmed Qotb, Deputy Chairman of the State Council and Legal Advisor to the Authority ; and Dr. Ashraf Sadek, CEO and Managing Director of the Egyptian Holding Company for Silos and Storage ; in addition to several heads of central departments at GASC .
The meeting was attended by members of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC), representatives of the Central Auditing Organization, and representatives from relevant ministries and institutions.
Discussions focused on following up on various matters related to the Authority’s operations and its role in meeting the needs of the domestic market.
Dr. Sherif Farouk emphasized the pivotal role GASC plays in supporting the food security system and ensuring the availability of essential commodities for citizens. He stressed the importance of maintaining an integrated, proactive approach to safeguard strategic stock levels and enhance the state's ability to respond efficiently and flexibly to fluctuations in both local and global markets.
The Minister also directed that the implementation status of subsidized commodity stocks and supply and procurement programs be continuously monitored to ensure the maintenance of safe inventory levels, the consistent availability of goods, and the fulfillment of citizens' needs across all governorates.
Concluding the meeting, Dr. Sherif Farouk emphasized the importance of continuing to operate based on proactive plans to secure essential commodities, enhancing the efficiency of procurement, storage, and distribution systems, and strengthening governance and monitoring mechanisms. He also stressed the need for continued coordination among relevant entities to support the food security system and maintain market stability.
